Examples of LinkedIn Cold Messages That Work

Here are a few quick and easy cold message examples to get your foot in the door on LinkedIn.

Example #1 of a LinkedIn Cold Message - Flattery Gets You Everywhere

People want to be noticed on social media, and what better way to do so than to be noticed? This applies to both personal social media accounts and business networking platforms such as LinkedIn.

“Hello, Jacob. I was impressed by your most recent blog post. I'd love to talk with you to learn more. ”

If you aren't already connected to someone, you must first send a connection request. The type of connection request described above is ideal for demonstrating your appreciation for someone's efforts. It demonstrates your interest, not just your desire to sell."

You're asking someone to tell you more about themselves and show you their hard work while also complimenting them. A response is unquestionably on its way.

LinkedIn Cold Message Example #2 - Mention a Common Connection

It's not what you know, but who you know, as the saying goes. Use the strength of your connections to expand the network even further.

“Hello, John. I just realized we have a mutual connection in Matthew. I admire your work at XYZ Company and would like to connect."

You'll notice that you're not relying solely on their relationship with Matthew for a "in" with this template; instead, you're employing the same strategy as in Example #1 to demonstrate that you've seen their work and aren't simply copying and pasting the same message to 50 other people.

Strike the Ego with LinkedIn Cold Message #3

There is an internal competition on social media to have the most likes, connections, or whatever term applies, and to be ranked as high as possible. This example is appealing to those who want to elevate their status even further.

"Hello, John." I noticed your profile was near the top of our industry's search results. I'd like to speak with a subject matter expert and get some solid advice."

Riding on #1, this example offers praise while also demonstrating that you've done some research. If you use this, make sure to follow through and ask some questions.

It would be unappealing if they responded and you launched into a sales pitch. Keep in mind that trust must be earned. Demonstrate your worth, show interest, learn about them, and be helpful.

Example #4 of a LinkedIn Cold Message - Provide Value

You don't want to be known as the needy connection, so you should always have something of value to offer.

Create a symbiotic, not a parasitic, relationship - these conversations are ignored or deleted.

"Hello, Tanya.

I hope things are going well for you. I came across an article that I believe you will enjoy. It discusses some of the cutting-edge automation opportunities that manufacturers like you are taking advantage of today.

Here's the link if you want to check it out: >>LINK

This post contains a wealth of useful information, and I particularly found the adoption metrics across the industry eye-opening.

Have fun reading!

Martin"

This template is a nice "soft push" for something that might be useful to THEM while also demonstrating goodwill and an interest in what they think.

Example #5 of a LinkedIn Cold Message - Use Networking As Your In

People despise being sold to. They do, however, enjoy chatting.

Positioning your request as a networking call is one way to get them to relax their guard. Once on the call, inquire about what they are attempting to improve in their business and pivot the conversation to how you would like to assist.

"Hi Bob,

I hope this message finds you and your company in good health.

One of the things I like best about LinkedIn is the ease with which I can meet and connect with interesting people to share connections or ideas. With that in mind, I thought now would be a good time to learn more about each other and our mutual businesses.

Would you be available for a quick phone call next week? How about 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5?

I eagerly await your response. Have a wonderful day!

Regards,

Craig"

Before discussing your own, make sure to inquire about theirs.

You are not duping them into making a sales call. You've invited them to a networking call with the intention of transitioning it to a sales conversation.

Remember, this is your first contact with them. Do not ask them to stay the night right away.

Develop the relationship. Gain their confidence. And they will be far more willing to collaborate with you.

LinkedIn Example of a Cold Message #6 - Re-Engage Existing Connections

"This is an excellent cold message to send to people with whom you are connected on LinkedIn but do not have a personal relationship. This strategy can then be applied to the shared connection/referral play.

Hello, Bob.

We've been connected on LinkedIn for a while now, but we don't really know each other. As much as I enjoy social media, I also enjoy getting to know my contacts.

Would you be open to a phone call or meeting for coffee soon? Just to learn about each other's businesses and see how we can help each other.

Thanks,"
